Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

With SGM cancelling I decided to switch to Mt. Nebo. Had to get a 20 in and start tapering a month sooner than expected. I guess we'll see what happens.

This was the first time running a marathon in a few years, the first time running Mt Nebo Marathon and running it spur of the moment after SGM cancelled.  So I lost about a month of training but I have ran the last half of this several times this summer so I was ok with jumping in!

I really had no idea what my time would be because of all of the factors listed above.  A stab in the dark would have been hoping for 4:30ish but wishing it could be faster.

I was alone for most of the first half.  I did catch up to Hal and run the Santaquin out and back with him but I could tell he was going to start pushing the down hill so I set him free.  I wish I could have stayed with him but by the last 4 - 5 miles my knee was acting up and it probably would have been even worse if I would have tried to stay with him.

Tom drove up and met me at the half way point and ran me to the end.  It was nice to have him there or I would have been really alone.  Where I was in the mid packers was very spread apart.

Anyway, I made it to the finish line.  Would have liked to feel better those last miles and not have to stop and stretch my knee out so often.  But hey, it's a marathon, those last miles don't really feel great for anyone!

When I finished I was done!!  I mean done with marathons!  I got a pretty bad headache and had to lay down in the shade for a bit and I was telling everyone that was my last marathon!  I was going to stick to half marathons from now on.  Well, as you probably know, that feeling has passed and I will most likely run more marthons.  But maybe not this one.  I really like the half on this one so I think I'll stick with that.  At least that is what I am saying today.  Tomorrow may be different!  :)
