Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Tom and I woke up about 4:20 this morning to get to the first Hobbler 1/2.  We got there about 5:20 and ended up as the last 2 people on the first bus.  So when we reached the starting point we had a whole hour to spare.  It was a bit nippy but not enough....that meant the heat would be coming way too soon.  I think it should start at 6:00 or at least 6:30.

It started on time but on a very crowded street.   I'm thinking the super fast people were probably bugged at all the slower people who lined up at the front.

We had decided to just take it at what felt good for me.  I know Tom, (even coming back from an injury), could have flown past me, but he stuck with me the whole way.

The first 8-9 miles were fine.  I decided to take a Carboom a bit before the 8 mile water stop.  Unfortunately I took it too soon and it was hard to gag it down until I was able to get a good drink.

After about 9 - 10 I was struggling way more than I would have liked.  My legs and body were feeling OK but I was really feeling like I couldn't breathe well.  That last 5K seemed like it might never end.  I think the course may have been a bit long, but both of our Garmins were being a little faulty so I'm not quite sure.

We ran across the finish line together.   I'm just a bit bugged that Tom was running mid pack with me and he still took  5th in his age where I took 7th.  Oh well.  : )

I loved the COLD water bottle that was already opened up for me as I came across the finish line!  But we couldn't find more water anywhere so we had to get another one along with everyone else.  So I hope that the people coming in later weren't left without water.

Overall a good long run for me today.  I would like to have seen closer to 1:50 or lower but I gave it all I had to give today so I feel like I did my best on this race.

Great job Kim. And that's what you get for marrying an old man. :P

Hi Kim, it is nice that you and Tom got to run together (I know whenever Dean is recovering from an injury I love the first couple of months when I get to run with him). It sounds like the last couple of miles were uphill -- that always hurts even more than usual!!

Thanks friends!

MD: I didn't actually get a medal for this one, but I think I shall go get a medal from another race and wear it today just to make my major headache worth it. After I wrote the report my head and stomach really got hurting. I think I dehydraded myself pretty good this time. Lesson learned.

Burt: Yeah, but he was young when I married him. Who knew he would get old, (and me too!)?

Bonnie: I have NO IDEA how you run in the heat like you do! I was not ready for the 75 degrees that came the last 4 miles of this race! It drained me! You are wonder woman!

Kim, sounds like a great training race for STG, hubby gets 200 commando points. Hey, it is all in who shows up, gotta know when to hold em and when to fold em and when to run, without Kenny.

Nice run. I see a change for a sub 4 in your future.

Brent, it was a good training run. I appreciate the commando points for the hubby, but is it OK if he shares some with me?! I worked way harder for my 7th place than he did for his 5th! For him it was just a walk in the park!

Thanks Clay! Hope things are going a little better for you. I need to go check in on ya and see.

Terry...thanks! Whatever happens with SGM I'm glad you and Taunia will be there to celebrate with us!

Great job on the run. It was great to see you again. Hopefully your headache and everything else is all better now. I agree with you about starting earlier but overall it was a good course. Other than we had to travel way to far and wake up way to early to get there for it to start at 7.

Kim, I would expect Tom to give you all those commando points. In case Tom does not give you the points, 200 in the bank for your next hard effort. Good luck breaking 4 hrs at STG. I expect it will happen.

Kim....It was fun reading your race report. So, have you fully recovered from being sick after the cruise. You talked about having a hard time catching your breath...I understand all too well.

Nice Time, Hope I can reach that kind of time sometime this year. Can't wait till I can run with you again.
