I started running in the fall of 2007. I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.
Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014. My favorite PRs: 2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22. 2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

On running and on life.....
On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Going to St. George? Bag the hotel and stay in one of our condos instead!
Wow! I can't believe it is already November! Three weeks from today we get to go to the SLC Airport and pick up our son who has been serving a church mission in Denmark for two years! We are so excited to see him! It is nice to send them out to serve a mission but it is much easier to get them back home!
This morning when it was dry outside I went to my friend's house and did some circuit training inside.....then when the rain was pouring down I went outside to get a run in! I was so wet it did not even matter that there were little flash floods at the intersections that I had to run through!
The last mile and a half turned to a heavy, wet snow! I felt like I was carrying 10 extra pounds. When I got home I decided to step on the scale with all my wetness to see the difference. It was an 8.5 lb. difference. I had to step into the tub to take all the wet gear off.....and guess what?....this is just the beginning! We have a whole winter ahead of us!
This morning I signed up for the 2012 Utah Grand Slam and for the Ogden marathon which is part of the grand slam.
Tonight we get to do our part and feed our local missionaries....I guess I'd better get back to work getting the house clean and the food ready!
Got totally lost today...how strange. Must have been lost in my thoughts and mixed up! Or maybe I was trying to hide my face from the cold wind so much that I didn't watch where I was going. Whatever the case...it was a little weird!
Luckily Tom and I didn't have to go out in the dark and windy morning...we were able to wait a few hours and go out in the light and windy mid morning! We decided to start out with the wind at our backs. We knew that would mean we would eventually have it in our face but by that time we would be 3 miles away from home so we would have no choice in the matter!
It was nice that the sun was shining and the wind was not a biting, cold wind, but it was a very stiff wind and gave us a run for our money! It was an awesome run...I was feeling good so I imagined myself cutting through the wind and all of a sudden I was picking up the pace. I haven't done much speed work for a while so it was fun to work hard into the wind. The final mile was with the wind at our back and I ran a mile in under 8:00 (7:57) for the first time in a long time.
The wind blew a big branch down from our tree in our back yard. Looks like it will give our 17 year old a good clean up job! : )
Tom and I met up with Alan at the church today. The wind pelted the snow into our eyes for the first few miles. We dodged a few puddles and hit a few puddles. It was fun to be out and down on the river trail on a dark, snowy morning. Saw a guy letting his dogs run freely. He apologized saying he didn't expect anyone else to be out!
Just after 8 miles I decided to take it back up into town to do my own thing. I was glad I did...I ran into Kay and was able to get some miles in with her!

Tia had her piano judging today. She did great! She got to play an $85,000 piano! How fun! Congrats Tia on receiving a Superior!
Today I ran with the LDS Primary song "Latter Day Prophets" going through my mind over and over! It was quite fun actually and a nice 3/4 time to keep me running even! It never hurts to have the latter day prophets along with you for a run!
A nice 7 miles with my sometimes-work-at-home hubby! It was nice to take a little break mid way and enjoy the peaceful river. I hope I am lucky enough to have Tom always be able to have a job that allows him to work at home a couple days a week!
I would usually run .10 miles more to make it to the next mile marker but today Tom and I intentionally went out to run 6.9 miles. We could have gone 11 miles but we didn't really want to do that so we went 11.11 kilometers instead. We hit 11:11a.m. about mid way through our run. I think that should do it for the 11 day.
Thinking of all those vets, past and present who have and are serving our country! I can't imagine all they and their immediate families go through in our behalf! We are looking forward to our nephew coming home from his 3rd tour in Iraq. He should be home for the holidays! His wife and two little kids will be so happy to have him back!
Enjoyed running with Tom and all the rest of the speedy guys today...however they were all in non speed mode so it was just right for me. Plus there was no rain like we were expecting! Very nice. Then I had to go to SLC for an all day meeting for work. Nice to be home now. Time for some nice snuggy jammies!
It was fun on the trail today to run into a lady I have met a few times that I didn't know did some running. We were able to run about 2 miles together and it was nice to have someone to talk to. We may get together here and there for a run or two. Always nice to find more running buddies.
This morning we had some snow and puddles to deal with on the road but the temps were nice and it was quite enjoyable. Started out as Tom and I and Chad and Dan. Later met up with Kay and David. It was fun to help Kay get a long run in. She hasn't done 10 miles at a time since July.
Five miles with Tom, one mile with Rui...and now I shall break out in song....
Ahem....

Today is the day we have been counting down for! We are so excited to go to the airport and pick up our son who has been gone for 2 years serving a mission in Denmark.
Zippadee do dah, zippadee ay...My oh my what a wonderful day! : D
It was nice to sleep in a bit this morning and then head out with Tom. We got 3 together then he went a separate way to get a few more miles than me.
It was so nice to get our son home from Denmark yesterday! It was so nice to wake up this morning and have him walk up the stairs with a big grin on his face!
Tom and I ran down from the cabin we are staying at in Heber. We didn't really want to run back up so my dad and brother picked us up while they were out looking for wildlife. They are much better at spotting deer than we are. They saw a bunch, we only saw a swan and 2 ducks. Once they picked us up and brought us back they pointed out the deer to us.
It's so fun up here with Tom and every one of our kids and our sweet daughter in law and my parents and some extended family! Lovin' it!
Tom and I each did our own thing today since he is doing some 5K training and I am just running. I met up with the crew at the church. It was just cold enough that I never took my gloves off but very nice for running.
Today as I ran with the guys I learned all about how to measure a deer or elk. I now know that a 350 elk is a pretty good size and that the 499 they were talking about is just plain huge! Now I know.
Today we continue our week of celebration as we prepare for family and friends to come tomorrow to Tyler's Welcome Home! It has been a great week...Tuesday pick up the long lost child, Wed head to the cabin, Thurs celebrate Thanksgiving and now finish up with one more big hoorah! Life is good! : D
I am very lucky. I get to pick and choose when I want to get out for a run. I am also lucky that Tom can work from home and go out a little later too. Today was perfect running weather with beautiful sunshine! We did our River Trail 7 miler together then I came and picked up Rui for another 1 1/2 miles.
Six on my own and then picked up my anxious little doggy waiting for his mile.
What a beautiful day to end November on. The sun was a little filtered but I was able to be in shorts and short sleeves. Will I be able to do that anymore this year? I wouldn't complain if I could! : D
