I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

    Happy Birthday Tyler!

It's very hard for me to believe, but our second son is now 18 years old!  Hmmmm....I guess we ought to go out and get him a present or something....It's been such a crazy week.

Bitter/sweet day yesterday.  (See Tom's entry from yesterday for details.)  Unfortunately our sister-in-law is still in the hospital.  Missed her own daughter's wedding.  I sat with her in the hospital last night while everyone else was at the reception.  Makes me think a bit differently about the posibility of me missing a measly old marathon.  If I can't make it over the finish line I will get another chance if I want.  Your only daughter only gets married once...(hopefully!)

Today and tomorrow is are full days of rest.  I had an injection in my knee yesterday and I need to lay low for 2 days before trying the knee out again.  Monday morning we'll see how it feels. A big thanks to Felicia, (Pinkie on the blog), for some really great, extra mile service!

Happy birthday to your son! You and your family have had a rough couple of weeks, take it easy and SG will go well.

From paula on Sat, Sep 27, 2008 at 10:17:11

Happy birthday to Tyler. I have been sluffing the blog for a few days so I am so sorry to hear you are hurt. Hopefully it will work itself out, but you have a good attitude about it and all will end well with the marathon hopefully.

From Kim on Sat, Sep 27, 2008 at 12:35:06

Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. You are so right about putting things in perspective. But, I still think you will have a great marathon.

Hope the knee injection works. Did they nick your nerves and send shock waves through your entire body when they injected it?

Take it easy and enjoy your weekend.

A giant Happy Birthday to your son!! You don't look old enough to have an 18 year old!! :)

From Teena on Sat, Sep 27, 2008 at 12:35:48

Ooops!! I was thinking about you and put "Kim" instead of Teena in the name field!! Oops!!

From Pinkie on Sat, Sep 27, 2008 at 14:09:08

How is the knee doing? Definitely let me know how it does Monday after your run!! Thanks for the necklace- I love it!

From Kim on Sat, Sep 27, 2008 at 15:14:23

OK Teena! I'm glad you didn't make the "hit the nerves and send shock waves through my entire body" comment until AFTER I had the injection! If I would have heard that or even THOUGHT of it MYSELF I may have not gone through with it! But fortunately it was very simple and rather pain free!

Felicia, It is feeling fine today. Maybe a tiny bit stiff, but not bad at all. I'm excited to get out Monday and try 'er out! I'll definitely let you know how it goes! Thanks again for everything!

And Paula and Jody, Thanks for all of your encouragement all the time!

Hi Kim,

Wow ... about the knee I hope this helps and take care of yourself. Happy Birthday Tyler!

I am so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law, I will keep her in my thoughts. I am so glad she had you there to keep her company and give her comfort.

From Lybi on Sat, Sep 27, 2008 at 15:35:40

Congrats to Tyler!

So sorry about your sister-in-law. Now I have to go read Tom's blog and see what happened! To miss a daughter's wedding, it must have been pretty serious.

I didn't realize your knee was giving you this much grief! I haven't been on the blog much recently. The very very best of luck to you and your afflicted appendage, and I hope you will bounce back in time to get that finisher's medal. I'm looking forward to seeing you so much!

Kim, just read Toms blog from yesterday. Sorry to hear the news. I totally agree with you about putting the marathon is perspective. My Mom had some heart trouble this week. Its funny how life changes so fast. You and Tom and such cool people. I hope you feel good enough to have a good STGM. I know its not the most important thing. However, you have worked so hard and deserve a chance to finish your goal. Our prayers are with your family.

Wow, good news and very sad news in the same post. I'm happy for your son, grateful your injection seems to be helping - and sad for your sister-in-law. Is your life ever just simple any more?!?! You must be doing something right to have so many trials this year. I hope Monday's trial run goes well...

Kim, I am thinking about you! My prayers and thoughts are with you! Hope next week brings many good things.

From leslie on Mon, Sep 29, 2008 at 10:42:45

I read Tom's entry about your sister in law, and my thoughts are prayers are with you. It really does put life into perspective. I wish the best for her and her family.

Kim, I hope you can still run the marathon, I know thru my worries with Paul it has been nice to keep a bit of normalcy. The running helps keep me sane and happy. Good luck in St. George, just completing a marathon is an accomplishment, take it easy on those knees.
